Louise Imeault, NB Speaker

The Honourable Louise Imbeault, Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick

The Honourable Susan Holt, Premier of New Brunswick

Donna Reardon, NB Speaker

Donna Reardon, Mayor of Saint John

Hon. Louise Imbeault — The Honourable Louise Imbeault, OC, ONB, was installed as New Brunswick’s 33rd Lieutenant Governor in January 2025. A respected journalist, activist, and community leader, Ms. Imbeault has been an ardent women’s rights advocate and a lifelong champion of the Acadian community. As Lieutenant Governor, she has identified a few key areas of focus for her time in office, notably the recognition of the Acadian People; the importance of bilingualism and official languages; gender equality; access to truthful, verified, and accurate information; the integration of the arts in all aspects of society; interactions between various cultural communities; and our relations with First Nations. Born in Moncton to a francophone family, Ms. Imbeault grew up in a bilingual setting. She learned to speak English while playing with anglophone friends in her neighbourhood. However, at the time, the francophone community did not always have access to the same services as the anglophone community. For example, Ms. Imbeault’s parents, along with Acadian families, successfully lobbied for the creation of a French high school in Moncton. These formative experiences influenced Ms. Imbeault’s profound convictions regarding the importance of cultural exchange and community building. Ms. Imbeault holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Philosophy and a Bachelor of Education, both from the Université de Moncton. She completed master’s studies in philosophy and studied journalism in France.

Hon. Susan Holt — Cabinet de la première ministre Raised in Fredericton New Brunswick, Susan Holt was elected to the New Brunswick Legislature as the first woman Premier of New Brunswick and MLA for Fredericton South Silverwood on October 21, 2024. She was first elected as the Leader of the Official Opposition and the Liberal Member for Bathurst East-Nepisiguit-Saint-Isidore in March 2023. She has extensive experience in both local and global business, community leadership, provincial and national advocacy, and social enterprise development. She has also spent a number of years working within government on economic policy. A champion of community involvement, Ms. Holt has been an active volunteer and contributor to organizations like the NB Lung Association, JEDI, Junior Achievement, Propel ICT, NB Association for Community Living, Fredericton Homeless Shelters, and more. She has degrees in Chemistry and Economics from Queen’s University. Ms. Holt is perfectly bilingual thanks to New Brunswick’s early immersion program, paired with continued practice and a strong commitment to the French language. She, her husband Jon, and their three young children are passionate about New Brunswick’s great outdoors as avid hikers, runners, and campers.

Mayor Donna Reardon — Donna Reardon was elected as the 79th Mayor of the City of Saint John in May 2021, becoming the third woman to hold this office in the city’s 240-year history. Her career in municipal politics began in 2012 when she was first elected to Common Council, and she was re-elected in 2016.
Mayor Reardon holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Human Nutrition from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her professional background has fueled a strong commitment to social equity, particularly in addressing child poverty and supporting vulnerable populations. With more than 30 years of volunteer service, Mayor Reardon’s dedication to community building began with her involvement on the Provincial District 8 Education Council. Her ongoing civic engagement reflects her passion for resilient neighborhoods, active transportation, climate action, and mental and physical wellness through accessible amenities and recreation.

Session Description

In today’s uncertain economy,  where markets are volatile, consumers are cautious, and “buy local” exists alongside global competition and founders are asking a critical question: How do you grow a business from Atlantic Canada and still compete on a national and international stage?

In this keynote fireside conversation, Angele Miller, multi-founder, franchise creator, investor, and President of Women in Business New Brunswick board and Destination South East, shares how she has built and scaled businesses across multiple sectors from health food retail and beauty to glamping, franchising, and international brand brokerage.

From a small town in Cocagne, New Brunswick, to launching and scaling brands across Canada, the United States, and beyond, Angele unpacks what it actually takes to grow without losing your roots and why regional founders are uniquely positioned to succeed in today’s global environment.

In this keynote, Angele shares how she:

  • Identifies and validates opportunities across diverse industries including beauty, wellness, tourism, and food
  • Designs simple, scalable business models including franchising that translate across regions and markets
  • Navigates global uncertainty, including supply chain shifts, export readiness, “buy Canadian” movements, and evolving customer expectations

Attendees will leave with practical insights on how to:

  • Think beyond a single product or location while staying grounded in their community
  • Turn a local success into a repeatable growth model (franchise, licensing, or strategic expansion)
  • Balance risk and resilience when the global environment is uncertain but full of opportunity

Perfect for:
Women founders, franchise-curious and export-ready entrepreneurs, and small-to-mid-sized business leaders in New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada who want to grow bigger without leaving their roots behind.
